Taikoz is pleased to announce Annual Class Membership again in 2022.We recognise that so many of our students are committed to their classes and show an incredible dedication towards their studies in wadaiko, and as such, would like to offer this annual membership, which includes some great discounts and special ‘add-ons’.

Bookings for Taikoz Annual Class Membership close on 15 February 2021 and membership is valid for the 2021 calendar year. Here’s what it includes:
  • A savings of $175 over the course of the year
  • Discount offers on all 2021 concerts and workshops
We hope you take advantage of this great offer!

Elements II (Wednesday) classes commence Wednesday 2 February, 7.30pm to 9.00pm.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Designed for students with some taiko playing experience, both Elements classes focus on the integration of movement of bachi, arms and body, good sound production, development of speed, endurance, breath control, and a solid sense of rhythm.
Musical works involving a variety of taiko styles are learned over the course of the year, with students encouraged to perform at our annual Australian Taiko Academy concert – a fantastic opportunity to consolidate learning and play in front of a supportive audience!
Key learning points in both Elements I and II are:
  • Studying a variety of traditional taiko styles
  • Learning the accompanying kuchi shoga (taiko rhythm vocals)
  • Learning and practicing a musical composition
  • Practicing pieces called renshu that involve specific musical and technical challenges
  • Developing general musicianship
  • Learning about aspects of Japanese culture and taiko history
The fundamental difference between Elements I and Elements II is that the latter is designed for students who wish to challenge themselves a little bit more, both technically and musically.
Both classes are challenging and hard working, but most of all, they are still fun! Be prepared to work and play hard!
Students have the opportunity to perform at the annual Australian Taiko Academy concert, held in December.
