Thank you to all Melburnians (& everyone from other places, too) who came and saw The Beauty Of 8. It was a pleasure & privilege to perform with Riley & Chieko on such a wonderful stage as the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall. And what an amazing space! The acoustic is one of the finest we have played in, and the interior is as impressive, too.
This production was a long time in the making. Both Chieko & Riley bring their special magic to the stage, which in itself elicited all sorts of ideas & creative responses. For me, the highlight was seeing/hearing Riley play "Drifting" with Chieko's other-worldly dancing. The chemistry was special & I think the sense of deep expression & utter joy was palpable. Having everyone contribute to its creation was a beautiful thing - from all the musos, the composers/choreographers, the creative crew (lighting, audio & staging) and the tech-mech crew on the night.
Thanks again for your support - we can't do it without you!
Photo 1 shows us with Chieko and Marshall McGuire, Director Of Artistic Programming (3rd from left), who kindly invited us to perform at the MRC... huge thanks!
Photo 2 is with the marvelous Melbourne taiko crew who performed too... they provided a magical moment by playing their temple bowls in the hall to create what I call a 'sound cloud'.
Photo 3 is... well, you know... we were excited...
