Three Horizons: 3 artists, 3 nationalities, 3 scenes, 3 cultures. The Australian Taiko Academy presents the 2020 Individual Development Program (IDP) Young Artists in their debut recital. Having trained with Taikoz for the past 12 months in an intensive program that covers everything from taiko drumming, to song, bamboo flute and movement, Three Horizons is the culmination of their journey, to date.
Our three artists, Silvana Imperatori from Norway, Haruka Kunimune from Japan and Australian Cameron Burgess join forces in a dynamic program showcasing their hard work and talents in a program of three scenes, framed by a triumvirate of pieces that are reflective of their cultural origins: Ian Cleworth’s groove-based House Music (Australian), international taiko legend Eitetsu Hayashi’s Sanzetsu (Japanese) and Japanese composer Maki Ishii’s ground-breaking Monochrome (Japanese and Western European).
A 70-minute program of large and intimate works, the IDP artists are supported by the Australian Taiko Academy IDP Ensemble (themselves alumni of the IDP) and members of Taikoz.
Taikoz is really proud of our students’ achievements and 2020’s Individual Development Program players are no exception. Come and support your colleagues in this wonderful program.
