Chi Udaka - off to the Sydney Opera House!

Date: Tue 19 Sep 2023

It almost goes without saying that we're incredibly excited to be heading back to the Sydney Opera House in October. This time we'll be performing at the Drama Theatre in Chi Udaka, a collaboration with choreographer Anandavalli and Lingalayam Dance Company.

Our journey together began way back in 2011 when we were given a small amount of creative development funding to create an original work for South Indian Classical dance, taiko, percussion and shakuhachi. Since that time, the work has grown into a full-blown theatre piece with elaborate staging and sets, plus the addition of cello and voice.

After a tour of the eastern states of Australia in 2016, we had the enormous privilege of presenting the work in five Indian cities, where we received enthusiastic responses from audiences and glowing reviews! And now we're honoured to be bringing it to the Opera House as part of their 50th Anniversary celebrations!

As the photo shows, Chi Udaka is visually stunning, while the music and performance of both dancers and musicians is captivating from beginning to end. Come and enjoy 75-minutes of sheer theatrical delight!

WHEN: October 18-21
