Taikoz and our IDPs enjoyed a fascinating, challenging, educational & totally enjoyable weekend with Hachijo-jima taiko veteran and master player/teacher, Hiro Asanuma. His detailled instruction in the basics and finer points of playing the Hachijo (side-on) taiko style comes from a very deep place. Asanuma-sensei's spirit & the spirit of Hachijo-jima lives on in our dojo and we will draw on this for years to come.
And many thanks to long-time Taikoz supporter Akiyo Tanaka for facilitating Asanuma-sensei's visit... it was hugely appreciated by all of us.
