20 Series - Composing for Taiko with Ian Cleworth

14 May 2017

The next workshop in the 20 series will be presented by Taikoz co-founder Ian Cleworth. Drawing on Ian's experience composing many works for Taikoz and other artists, including Synergy, Bell Shakespeare Company, and Koto virtuosi Kazue Sawai and Satsuki Odamura, this 2-hour workshop is to give composers who are interested in making works for taiko an insight into:

• how to develop ideas

• compositional techniques

• instrumentation and voicing

• structure

Participants can bring a musical idea, a motif or theme for discussion and work-shopping, and some playing will be involved.
