Drawing on Riley's deep experience as a performer at the highest level, this workshop is for anyone who has, is, or might be learning any skill that requires practice.
It is also for anyone who performs in front of an audience, whether only on occasion or regularly, and regardless of the size of the audience, be it a small, informal gathering of friends or a television audience of millions.
The workshop will be particularly geared towards, but not limited to people who play music.
The workshop is for people who want to improve their level of playing (or acting or speaking or dancing or figure skating, etc) as well as their ability to maintain that level of playing in front of an audience.
Participants in the workshops will gain a better understanding of how ‘practice’ differs from ‘performance’ and why. This understanding will give them a way to use their limited practice time more efficiently. It also might help reduce some of the psychological baggage that drags most of us back from the level of performance that we all want.
We will also look at how ‘practice performance’ differs from both ‘practice’ and ‘performance’ and how an understanding of these
differences might help both.
It is sure to be a stimulating and highly informative evening!
