Taikoz 4-tet : Grafton + Coffs Harbour

26 Sep 2020 to 27 Sep 2020

The Taikoz 4-tet is back on the road in September and we are thrilled at the idea of playing real, live concerts again! Because of social distancing regulations, we are performing two 60-minute concerts, one hour apart. The program is a dynamic and contrasting one: Ian Cleworth’s shimedaiko quartet Dedication, followed by the premiere of Ryuji’s new piece for hayashi ensemble called Yasaka. Kerryn and Ryuji composed a beautiful work for the Hang (handpan), shinobue and percussion titled Flowing Water, which is coupled with Ian's high-energy mixed ensemble piece like a ripple. The finale is Of The Fields, Ian's popular tour de force for katsugi-okedo.

First up sees the 4-tet return to Grafton at the Clarence Valley Conservatorium. We played there last year and enjoyed the enthusiasm of the locals immensely. The Grafton concerts will be at 5:00pm and 7:00pm on Saturday September 26.

On Sunday September 27, we will have made our way to Coffs Harbour at the Jetty Theatre where we will perform at 2:00pm and 4:00pm.

The group is super excited to have the opportunity and privilege of performing live once again. It’s been a long time and a very challenging time for performing artists worldwide. If you live in Grafton or Coffs Harbour, or if you know someone there, or happen to be in the vicinity, come and share the musical passion of the Taikoz 4-tet!
