TERM ONE CLASSES START 2 FEB

02 Feb 2020

Term One Classes start this coming Sunday 2 February.

Along with our 8-week regular classes, we are holding the popular HOUR OF POWER 'Odaiko' series this term, as well as our Play Taiko and Family Play Taiko workshops. Full Info at: https://www.taikoz.com/courses

Beginner? No problem!
Learn the technical basics of taiko and sample a few specific playing styles in our Beginners classes – the perfect starting ground for your taiko learning journey. Over the 8-week curriculum, you will be introduced to the foundations of taiko, including exploring traditional playing styles and learning the names of the many different drums that make up the taiko family. MONDAYS or THURSDAYS

Taiko Tot or a Mini Beat? We've got a class for you!
Taikoz fosters a family-friendly environment and children of all ages are welcome to begin their taiko journey with us. Weekly classes run for four 8-week terms (coinciding with school terms) and focus on playing rhythmic patterns, developing kinetic and aural awareness, and working together as a group. Musical games and learning short pieces of music are an important part of the younger child’s experience, while the older students concentrate more on exploring a variety of taiko playing styles, technique, complex rhythms and musical independence.

** Taikoz is registered for Creative Kids and welcomes the use of the vouchers to contribute towards course fees.

Hour of Power!!
The very characters that make up the word taiko (太鼓) – 太 (tai) ‘fat’ or ‘big around’ and 鼓 (ko) ‘drum’ – aptly describe the look, sound and feel of our beautiful instruments. Taking that as our inspiration, let’s make a big, fat sound together on Saturday mornings at 8.45am. Come and join us for an ‘Hour Of Power’ as we explore the energy, drama and excitement of the Big Drums!
