From the sonorous resonance of the Grand Odaiko Drum to the sharp tattoo of the high-pitched shimedaiko, the taiko-drum has its roots in a deep spirituality. In The Sacred Drum, the Taikoz Trio explores the essence of these two instruments through music that not only draws on Japanese culture and philosophy, but at the same time reflects who we are as contemporary musicians living and creating in 21st Century Australia. The Taikoz Trio, who is in residence at Bundanon in December, will present The Sacred Drum.
