Photo: Kerryn, Ian and Kirsty after the two Ks fabulous Musica Viva recital
Taikoz has been really busy over the past couple of months - Kerryn recently gave a stupendous performance for Musica Viva with bassist Kirsty McCahon in a recital for double bass, violine, vibes & taiko; Ryuji was in Melbourne last week for the Australian Miyake-Kai workshops with the Tsumura masters, as well as practicing hard for an upcoming trip to Japan with Sophia (Hachijo-jima, Iwasaki Onikenbai & set/odaiko study with Hase Mikita); Sophia has just come off the back of a 3-week Musica Viva In Schools Tour to Melbourne, giving 3 Taikoz concerts a day; Tom is currently in France involved in acting workshops; Riley has been touring in the USA, Switzerland & Germany giving concerts and lessons; and Ian has been in the studio composing and working on "20: Land-Sea-Sky-Home", as well as a new, very exciting project (soon-to-be-announced... watch this space!)
It's great when there are so many projects on the go - both big & small, high profile & low - as it allows each of us to bring something fresh back to the group... be it new ideas, music & techniques, or even just a sense of being refreshing & newly inspired.
Taikoz and Lingalayam are performing Chi Udaka at Singapore's Singtel Waterfront Theatre, Esplanade, on November 23-24.
