Welcome Back!

I can’t tell you how happy I am to be writing this note. Of course, we’re always happy to see everyone back in the dojo after a holiday break, but this time, it has extra depth of feeling.

The age we’re now living in has definitely changed from just a few months ago. I’m reminded of this just by simply looking back on my introductory remarks to this year’s first Dojo Newsletter. It was full of the many exciting creative projects that Taikoz was about to embark on in 2020. And now? Not a single one will take place this year, and quite possibly, not until at least the second half of 2021.

Nevertheless, we are thrilled – indeed, privileged – to be playing our precious instruments and enjoying making music together again. Music, and all it encompasses, is more than entertainment or a pleasant distraction – there is a profound duality at work: music is at once expression of the soul (giving-receiving) and nourishment of the soul (receiving-giving).

Now we can share this with all of you once again! The artists and staff of Taikoz trust you are well and safe, and we are extremely grateful that you have taken the big step to come back into the dojo and enjoy playing taiko (for real!) once again. Welcome back!
