Taiko Extensions: Intermediate Odaiko with Ian Cleworth | 2-session course - Term 1 2026

Term 1

Fees

$60 Full / $30 Concession

Intermediate

Led by Ian Cleworth, this two-session course is designed to take your odaiko playing to the next level.

Across both sessions, we will focus on the fundamentals: developing a strong kamae (stance), maintaining good posture, refining correct grip, and learning to strike the taiko with your whole body to produce a powerful, full sound. Musical material will be kept simple so that we can concentrate on playing technique. Be prepared to sweat!

All participants must bring their own odaiko bachi. Alternatively, odaiko bachi are available for purchase at the Taikoz dojo shop, or can be hired for $20 (covering both sessions).

This course is intended for participants with prior playing experience. If you are unsure about your suitability, please speak with your ATA teacher or contact Ian at ad@taikoz.com.
